SAFFRON: A Semi-Automated Framework for Software Requirements Prioritization
نویسندگان
چکیده
Due to dynamic nature of current software development methods, changes in requirements are embraced and given proper consideration. However, this triggers the rank reversal problem which involves re-prioritizing requirements based on stakeholders’ feedback. It incurs significant cost because of time elapsed in large number of human interactions. To solve this issue, a Semi-Automated Framework for soFtware Requirements priOritizatioN (SAFFRON) is presented in this paper. For a particular requirement, SAFFRON predicts appropriate stakeholders’ ratings to reduce human interactions. Initially, item-item collaborative filtering is utilized to estimate similarity between new and previously elicited requirements. Using this similarity, stakeholders who are most likely to rate requirements are determined. Afterwards, collaborative filtering based on latent factor model is used to predict ratings of those stakeholders. The proposed approach is implemented and tested on RALIC dataset. The results illustrate consistent correlation, similar to state of the art approaches, with the ground truth. In addition, SAFFRON requires 13.5-27% less human interaction for reprioritizing requirements. Keywords—Requirement prioritization; rank reversal problem; model-based collaborative filtering

Requirement Prioritization: A Study and Proposed Framework
Requirements may be defined as a demand or need. In software engineering, a requirement is a description of what a system should do. Requirement prioritization process is used to determine which candidate requirement of a software project should be included in a certain release, for this purpose different techniques are used. In this paper we have proposed a framework to prioritize the software...
متن کاملSelecting the Most Appropriate Framework for Value Based Requirements Prioritization A Case Study
There are usually more requirements than feasible in a given schedule. Thus, it’s imperative to be able to choose the most valuable ones for implementation to ensure the delivery of high value software system. There are myriad requirements prioritization frameworks and selecting the most appropriate one is a decision problem in its own right. In this paper we present our approach in selecting t...

متن کاملResearch Preview: Prioritizing Quality Requirements Based on Software Architecture Evaluation Feedback
[Context and motivation] Quality requirements are a main driver for architectural decisions of software systems. Although the need for iterative handling of requirements and architecture has been identified, current architecture design processes do not provide systematic, quantitative feedback for the prioritization and cost/benefit considerations for quality requirements. [Question/problem] Th...
متن کاملTowards a Research Framework on Requirements Prioritization
There exist a large number of approaches for prioritization of software requirements. Despite of several empirical studies, there is still a lack of evidence of which approaches that are to prefer, since different studies have resulted in different conclusions. Reasons may be due to differences in contexts, variables measured, and data sets used. This paper presents a research framework for stu...
